Kirby Pines is a not for profit retirement community that has been serving residents through independent living apartments and garden homes, assisted living residence, nursing home care, and a dedicated Alzheimer's residence for over 24 years. The community has one many national awards throughout the years for its programs and design that is dedicated to maintaining independence for as long as possible. They promote a 12 step wellness program throughout all living areas. The campus is located on 50 beautifully landscaped acres, offering a 2 1/2 mile walking trail and lake.

Staff certifications and training:
By law of state the staff at the Alzheimer's residence is required 40 additional CEU training hours per year. It is also known to handle very difficult residents with dementia/Alzheimer's Disease.

The entire facility is dedicated to the care of Alzheimer's and Dementia sufferers.

Diminished abilities or stage of disease that would result in a transfer or discharge:
There is really no discharge from our campus, what likely would occur, is that according to state law a person must be ambulatory to be on the unit. Should this become an issue a transfer to the nursing home area would become necessary to stay in compliance with the law.
Special care programs offered for Alzheimer's and Dementia residents:
There are multiple programs; one very unique program is that each person is looked at individually: what they used to do, where they worked etc. and a personal plan to allow them to continue in whatever frame of mind they are in becomes their individual care plan.
