Highlights
Aldersgate is an ecumenical 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing excellent continuing care services for older adults of all faiths and beliefs. While a separate corporate entity, Aldersgate is a ministry of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, offering services for residents across many levels of care. Aldersgate has a long tradition of serving older adults for the past 60 years. The Aldersgate community sits on 227 beautifully wooded acres in Charlotte with its own lake for fishing, walking and cart paths, a three-hole golf course and 5-acre azalea garden. Over 260 residences in an array of cottage and apartment floor plans are available to individuals in retirement living. The assisted living needs of members are met on Parker Terrace. This area has recently undergone an expansion to include 24 additional residences. Cuthbertson Village, Aldersgate’s memory support assisted living area, is on the leading edge of care for those seniors who have Alzheimer’s, dementia and memory loss. Programming and accommodations are designed to support individuals needing this level of care. Cuthbertson Village is divided into three neighborhoods, each with 15 private residences, a country kitchen, living room, family room and secure courtyard. Each of the 45 private residences has its own full bath. All three neighborhoods connect to a common area reminiscent of a 1930's and 40's-era town square comprised of a soda shop, theater, pet store, general store, garden shop, and a barber and beauty shop all around a fountain, stream, skylight and aviary. Asbury Care Center, Aldersgate’s skilled nursing facility, continues to offer outstanding skilled care to individuals needing mid- to high-level nursing care. Management and direct care staff provide the necessary care in an environment that supports dignity and continued self-worth for every resident. Over the past few years, Aldersgate has taken a more intentional approach to developing a wellness lifestyle philosophy, particularly for independent residents on the campus. We have a dedicated wellness staff, a beautiful swimming pool and senior-friendly exercise classes to meet the needs of health-conscious older adults. We also offer Tai Chi classes under the direction of a trained instructor. These efforts, plus access to healthy dietary choices and the opportunity to meet on a regular basis with a registered dietician, have helped Aldersgate reach a new level of service to active retirees who are very savvy regarding healthy lifestyles.
