Highlights
Residential living, combined with quality caregiving specifically devoted to those with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. A well-planned, secure and simple environment with private, nicely appointed bedrooms. The freedom to pursue one's own interests and enjoy one's surroundings. Just the right amount of assistance and structure to help make the most of each person's capabilities. And most of all, an environment that preserves the warmth, the caring, the comforts and routines of home. Arden Courts is one of the first assisted living centers to offer Alzheimer's specific adult Montessori-based programming. This programming uses external cues, simplified tasks and familiar materials according to a person's ability. The goal is to support the remaining, less impaired skills needed every day. In addition, Arden Courts working with the Myers Research Institute of Cleveland, Ohio, offers a unique therapy modality for working with those suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementias. This innovative technique, called MemorEase, using the “spaced retrieval” technique, gives individuals practice at successfully recalling information over progressively longer time intervals. It is available to those with an Alzheimer’s type dementia, or memory impairment from other types of brain injury such as a stroke. The goal of spaced retrieval is to promote each individual’s highest level of functioning by using their available memory to support remaining, less impaired functional skills.
